Maui motorists are asked to use caution and reduce speeds when driving on the Honoapiilani Highway in Ma'alaea and North Kihei Road on the morning of Saturday, February 1 during the Run and Walk for the Whales. 
 
The Run and Walk for the Whales includes a Half Marathon Run, 10K Run, 5K Run and 2.5 Mile Walk, with the starting line and finish line at the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops. The starting line will be located near Maui Ocean Center. The finish line will be near Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Store. 

If you have a keen eye for spotting whales from shore, Pacific Whale Foundation invites you to become a volunteer whale counter during the upcoming Great Whale Count, to be held on Maui on Saturday, February 22 from 7:30 am to noon. 
 

The 2014 Maui Whale Festival will run from February 1 through March 31. During this two-month period, Pacific Whale Foundation will be offering more than 30 events for Maui visitors and residents, including our Run and Walk for the Whales on February 1, our Parade of Whales on February 15 and World Whale Day on February 15.

February brings the peak of whale season on Maui and the first month of the Maui Whale Festival, a series of events through March to celebrate the 40-ton marine mammals that inhabit Maui's sparkling ocean waters. Run and Walk For the Whales 

 A delicious four-course dinner at sea, a beautiful sunset and fascinating stories about whales and whale research from one of the world's leading experts on humpback whales are all part of the allure of our first annual Benefit Dinner Cruise on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Tickets are now on sale!
 

Legendary rock icon Mick Fleetwood  will be a special guest star at the 34th Annual World Whale Day Celebration on Saturday, February 15 at Kalama Park on South Kihei Road, Kihei. 
 
A community event attended by more than 25,000 Maui residents and visitors last year, World Whale Day starts at 9 am and continues until 7 pm. Admission is free. 
 

Pacific Whale Foundation's annual Run and Walk for the Whales will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2014 with a new start and finish location at the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops.

As one of Maui's largest fun runs and walking events, the Run and Walk for the Whales attracted than 700 visitors and Maui residents last year.
 


Pacific Whale Foundation's bi-monthly Making Waves Lecture Series will present a free talk on rescuing entangled humpback whales off Maui and preventing vessel-whale collisions. Titled "Watch Out, Whales About," the presentation will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Pacific Whale Foundation's Discovery Center at the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops. Admission is free and the public is invited.



The New Year begins with a busy month of events at Pacific Whale Foundation, a Maui-based international nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting our oceans through science and advocacy.
